...this is the personal web journal of Allan Rojas
This is my blog, formerly hosted in BlogDrive.com, now running in my own domain, powered by TextPattern technology.
A few days ago the Bloggos committee released the evaluation form that will be used to decide the best 5 costarican blogs. Since there are no categories for the winners and all blogs are evaluated the same, many different things are taken into account: content, name, layout, use of images, grammar, innovation and design, among some others.
I’m no authority but I think this formula is flawed. Why? Because the same weight is being given to all the different aspects of the form. There are ten categories, each will be evaluated from 1 to 5, 5 being excelent.
Take “Name of the Blog” and “General Design” for example. A blog named “asdf” but with an impressive design might get 1 and 5 respectively; while a blog named something funny and nice but whose design is ugly and unpleasant might get 5 and 1. And then you get both blogs tied in *6*.
In my humble opinion, content and design should have a lot more weight over grammar, name of the blog and even the header categories.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to start a senseless rant here (maybe just a little), I still believe this is a worthy effort and the jury will give enough focus on content and the top 5 will truly be the best blogs.
