Couple of weeks ago, Final Fantasy XIII came out, and my World of Warcraft fun got crippled since half of our 10-man raid group froze their accounts to play FF.

This was a big deal. Gaming is my #1 hobbie, and in World of Warcraft, raiding is where the fun’s at. So, no raids means no fun. At least for me. I started the quest for a new game to replace WoW while Cataclysm gets closer.

RockBand/GuitarHero have been growing on me recently, but it’s not something I could call a full replacement. No 360 games drew my attention either, not even Mass Effect 2 or BioShock 2.

Was starting to consider Left 4 Dead 2 for the PC, but then something happened…

Saturday afternoon, Blizzard’s representatives opened their massive list of beta applications, and this is the dialog I imagine took place:

BlizzRep1: so, let’s pick a bunch of potential addicts for a beta invite…
BlizzRep2: yay, ok… I say filter by latins first.
BlizzRep1: ok, filtering latins… there you go, 200k+ applications.
BlizzRep2: ok, let’s filter by WoWers, we want to give preference to WoW players.
BlizzRep1: there you go: 130k+ applications.
BlizzRep2: hum… too many, gimme those that have ermm… 3+ WoW chars at level 80.
BlizzRep1: whoa, that’s better… 15k+ applications.
BlizzRep2: ok, give me now the ones that haven’t raided in the last 2 weeks!
BlizzRep1: tricky… hum, there you go: 2500+ applications!
BlizzRep2: ok, those guys are bored, but still too many, let’s go by country, how about Costa Rica?
BlizzRep1: 600+ aplications!
BlizzRep2: Take the alliance users out, Horde for teh win!
BlizzRep1: still, 400+ applications…
BlizzRep2: damn, ok, give me all hunters!
BlizzRep1: 54 applications!
BlizzRep2: awesome, any Beast Masters in these?
BlizzRep1: just 1, Gromrojas, he named his spirit bear Pedobear!, ROFL…
BlizzRep2: BINGO, send him a Starcraft II Beta Invite!
