The true price of Raiding

... or why hunters have it harder.

2009 May 28

I have the theory that us hunters have it harder to succeed in raids because we must farm more. Here’s an usual “get ready” I do 4 days a week before 25-man or 10-man raids.

First, get the cooking daily quest done, so that I can get my Dalaran Cooking Award which I’ll trade for 10 Northern Spices ; while at it, fish in Wintergrasp for 3 special catches that I’ll use later.

Then I travel to Scholazar Basin to kill a bunch of Mammoths for at least a stack of Chunk O’ Mammoth. While I’m there, I must mine whatever Saronite Deposits I can find.

Get back home (Dalaran) to make sure a create a stack of Spiced Mammoth Threats and some Fish Feasts. Then go and smelt Saronite Arrow Makers ; if you use bullets, then you must dance around either Dragonblight or Zul’Drak for Cobalt Nodes , which you’ll need to make Ultrasafe Bullet Machines...

If you’re not an Engineer, then you’re pretty much screwed as you’ll have to buy the bullets/arrows from the AH, or buy the mats and have a friend make them for you. Moving on, if you’re Survival like me, you’ll have to go to Dragonblight and fish for Dragonfin Angelfish ; which will let you produce Blackened Dragonfin, the favorite food of any class that relies on Agility. This means that you’ll have plenty of competition and delays…

Finally, I mail any item I could sell to my bank alt, who in exchange will supply me of 4 Flasks of Endless Rage, 10 Elixirs of Mighty Agility, and 10 Elixirs of Mighty Thoughts. I’ll use the elixirs if I want to maximize dps, and I’ll use the flask if the raid is wiping too much…

My bank alt will also buy me Potions of Speed, Runic Healing Potions, and Runic Mana Potions, at least a stack of the latter which I’ll then convert into a Runic Mana Injector...

And then we’re ready. Food for ourselves and our pets, elixirs, flasks, potions, bullets or arrows. Anything else? Oh yeah, don’t forget some cash for repairs too…

But when the raiding time comes, you just go ahead, pew pew and that’s it.

9 out of 10 times, a raid wipe will be the responsability of either the tanks or the healers due to execution being a bit harder on those parts.

And you have to roll against pretty much no one on your non-set gear.

QQ moar :P
